David Alston, Musical Director

David Alston, a native of Durham, North Carolina is an accomplished musician specializing in World and Classical Percussion and is also a Teaching Artist, and Composer. David studied Percussion and Cello at Durham School of the Arts and North Carolina Central University. David has toured with The African American Dance Ensemble and Urban Bush Women. He has traveled to Hong Kong/Macau China, Tokyo, Japan, and Toronto, Canada. David has taught Percussion at Future Leader's Institute, and has been a teaching artist with Bronx Children's Museum and Ethical Culture Fieldston. He is currently the Musical Director of VashtiDance Theater and a Teaching Artist for Alvin Ailey Arts In Education & Community Programs, Young Audiences New York, and Church Street School for Music and Art in Tribeca

Fatima Logan-Alston, a native of Durham, North Carolina, is a versatile dancer, choreographer, and Teaching Artist specializing in Contemporary and Traditional Dance. Fatima graduated Summa Cume Laude with a BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA). Fatima toured with the African-American Dance Ensemble and Forces of Nature Dance Theater. Fatima has been Artist in Residence at Hunter College, Long Island University Post, Bronx Children’s Museum, and has taught Contemporary Dance at Gibney Dance. Fatima has performed with Bobby Sanabria, Paul Winters, Ntozake Shange, and has received written recognition for her commitment to dance education from Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor. She is currently a teaching artist with Young Audiences New York and Artistic Director of VashtiDance Theater
